fn open_connection( &self, preferred: Option<i32>, ) -> Option<(i32, Arc<Connection>)>

An open connection with its broker id, preferring the broker of preferred while it stays open. Per KIP-714 a client keeps pushing to the same broker. None when no connection is open.
