Kafka’s KafkaRaftLog.endOffsetForEpoch over a leader epoch checkpoint.

The checkpoint answers the floor epoch and its end, as LeaderEpochFileCache.endOffsetFor does. An epoch newer than every entry has no floor there, and Kafka then answers the log end with the latest epoch, which never equals the requested one. The WAL replica log shares this lookup.
